SUGAR LANE · BESPOKE CAKES

Brief the cake in three minutes.

POSSIBILITY STUDY · 19

Could bake forty cakes a week. Baked four.

A possibility study. We built this concept end to end as a working prototype, inspired by the real operational bottleneck of a home bakery. The same system can be commissioned, customized, and shipped to your business in 10 days.

Sound like your business? Home bakeries. Caterers. Custom-order food businesses run by one person and the oven. The pattern is the same.

We have already imagined this. Let's explore yours →

Farah, a 32-year-old home baker in Abu Dhabi, smiling, piping a cake at her kitchen counter

SECTION 01 · THE BAKER

Four a week.
Could be forty.

Farah bakes celebration cakes out of her kitchen in Abu Dhabi. Birthdays mostly. Weddings sometimes. She is the bake, the buttercream, the delivery and the WhatsApp.

Most of her time was being eaten by the order: WhatsApp back-and-forth on flavour, size, design, dates, dietary, payment. By the time she had a confirmed order she had done 30 minutes of admin per cake.

We built her an order studio. Pick the cake. Build the top. Send the brief. Pay the deposit. All in one tab, without losing the warmth of working with her directly. Same Farah. Different funnel.

“Bake the cakes, not the back-and-forth.”

SECTION 06 · THE BUILD

A bakery store that thinks like a brief.

We rebuilt Sugar Lane around the moment Farah lost the most time: WhatsApp. The Order Studio captures the brief upfront, takes a deposit, and lands a clean PDF in Farah’s inbox. The site looks like a bakery. The plumbing thinks like a project tool.

  • Brand identity: script-led warmth without becoming a sticker book
  • Order studio: four-step brief with reference upload and date hold
  • Deposit payment via Stripe with auto-refund inside the lead window
  • Lead-time engine: reserved capacity per week, hidden when full
  • Photography direction: pastel and natural light, not commercial gloss
